I want to compliment Bamfkat and Knight_Crawler for their objectivity and rare perceptivity, as well as their empathy for other human beings. You guys are great. I mean it. I tracked down all of my friends (finally!), and they are ok. But my uncle is a firefighter, and although he was not badly injured (though the smoke and debris messed up his eyes and lungs), he has seen so much atrocity in the past few days that he is shell-shocked. The Crow quote was so apt. I have a tattoo on the back of my neck based upon the scene when Eric is about to kill Funboy, and he carves the crown of thorns on his chest with a knife. It is of that symbol. It's done in black and is symbolic of a lot of different things for me. I have freinds on Pro-Wrestling boards, who are crying for any and all Arab blood, and talking about violent displays of misplaced nationalism. I am so afraid of war. Not here, but in Sudan and Afgahanastan, where the people cannot defend themselves against out military technology. Pakistan has already been attacked by Israeli forces again, last night. People are coming out of their homes and standing in the streets against tanks and troops (that the US suppotrs by way of a 5 million dollar a year contribution). That was one of the most incredibly brave things that I have ever heard. I feel that there are too many scapegoats. The investigations here are too pat in their results. Why would a nationalized citizen that had acquired a licence to fly here need an Arabic flight instruction manual and vidoe, especially since they were competent enough to hijack 4 planed from 3 locations and re-route them to fly into those bulidings? Why would someone go on a covert mission of terrorism, and bring a poster and pamphlets about Bin Lauden? It makes no sense. I am so afriad of innocent people suffering. And they will. I have had nightmares and have cried a great deal. People are so sheltered that they have no idea what our country's detramental foreign policies are. They have no idea what the US has done in Hati, Puerto Rico, Sudan and many other Middle Eastern countries, as well as our exploitation of people in China ans the Pacific Islands, to name a few. And I don't even to know where to begin with Africa. It is so tragic and so sad. And these defenseless, innocent people in Sudan, Pakistan and Afgahanastan are going to suffer because out government and their government (which are interdependent upon each other and the exploitation of people) are corrupt, self-centered and do not give a s**t about their people.

More bloodshed in the name of peace is not right, our media has begun to sensationalize the entire horror and I am beyond sickened by everones screams for war.

Well I don't live anywhere close enough to be directly affected, but as an American citizen I am deeply grieved for those people. A lot of us have visited the WTC and it's terrible to think of all those people who died. Every time they show that footage it's full of hidden carnage...you don't see it like you see it in movies like "Saving Privat Ryan", but you know that it's happening...and that it is worse. So many people...it's true that it was cowardly. To massacre millions of civilians without purpose is cowardly. Even with purpose (WWII, Heroshima) it is monstrous. I'm still not informed enough about that to decide whether it was justified or not. All I know is that if possible, innocent lives should be preserved. Life is precious. Sure we should find out who is responsible, but we shouldn't start a war over it - no country did this. And we certainly shouldn't take out our anger on our fellow Americans. I thought we learned that that was wrong after WWII when similar feelings were directed at Japanese-Americans... I am apalled at the ignorance.

Oh - btw, I believe that Bush called on other nations to either be with or against us, and that there would be no neutral countries. Either you are for or against terrorists. This, I believe, is why Canada has announced their support.

As I watched it happen on TV, I wished I had super powers so I could just swoop in and rescue them.
Now, when I watch the continuing rescue efforts, I wish I could make all the rubble go away and bring all the survivers out.

Its weird how we deal with these things mentally. I escape into fantasy, wich isn't hard since this all seems so unreal, but I also feel the sorrow, anger, and fear at the same time.

I saw people on TV today, showing pictures of their loved ones and asking anyone who's seen them to contact them. It was the first time since this mess I actually cried.

As an American, I'm very proud of this country's ideals. We're not always the best country in the world, but we do try. As hurtfully and sensless as this terrorism is, I still hope it doesn't lead to war. Becuase, I can't watch and feel the suffering of those who've lost loved ones here in the U.S. and then rally behind actions that will cause that kind of suffering in other countries.

I think Canada should stay out of it. Or, since you say we've already given support, I think it's a mistake. While the people in the WTC weren't to blame for America's foreign policies, I know that I am for sure the hell not, and neither is anyone else in Canada. President Bush I think it was, called for everyone to join the "war against terrorism". Excuse me? What war does he think the other side is fighting? Does he think they want to be terrorists or something? They are fighting a war against Americans and I honestly cannot blame them. Obviously, America has treated them like shit. We don't know who initiated this, but I want to stay out of it.

Maybe that sounds a little mean, but I really think it's none of my business. Learning about the people killed in the WTC didn't effect me any more than hearing about all the people who have been killed in the Middle East. I believe that both sides are wrong and there is nothing I can do about it. I suppose that means I'm neutral. News that Canada has joined with America makes me feel that we are no better that the countries that have been fighting this war for decades. It makes me sick.
